 It may be a new year but the hostilities between the US and China have not subsided. The most recent diplomatic incident was the United States has shot down a giant Chinese balloon. The debacle has led to US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, cancelling his trip days before his scheduled visit to Beijing. In the first seven weeks of the year, high-level delegations from major superpowers have visited various parts of the continent. In this hour, we look into the implications of these tensions will have on geopolitical activities on the continent and South Africa from three perspectives: economic (trade deals/loans), military (Ukraine/Russia) and bilateral.
